Max Community Club Meeting Minutes
November 12, 2012
The monthly meeting of the Max Community Club was held November 12, 2012, and was called to order by club president Cindy Cawthra at 6:40pm. Attending were: Bill and Cindy Cawthra, Margaret Smith, Karen Bowman, Bob Tuttle, and Daisy and Jim Jensen.
The minutes for the last meeting were not readily available and so were not read. Margaret Smith read the monthly treasurer’s report. Karen Bowman made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as read. The motion was seconded by Bill Cawthra. A vote was taken and the motion carried.
Old Business: There were some issues with the kitchen sink faucet, and it had to be replaced. A new faucet was purchased and installed. The recent fish fry was discussed, and we had a very good turnout, including several folks from out of state who were visiting locally. The possibility of having a Thanksgiving supper at the club house was discussed. As there are so many club members with either definitive or tentative plans for Thanksgiving, it was decided not to have a club supper this year.
New Business: The future of the Max Community Club was discussed. It seems as if there is not much participation among the members regarding the “day-to-day” operation of the club (i.e. cleaning the club house, maintaining the park and museum, etc), and it seems as if it is always the same few members who are doing these things. Suggestions were made to call around among the other members when there are things that need to be done, and ask for their help, as sometimes not everyone is aware of what needs to be done, and when. It was also mentioned that perhaps the club could have some sort of membership drive.
Club elections are to be held at the next meeting, please be thinking about that. Fruit plates are also scheduled to be done at that the same meeting. Margaret and Cindy worked on a list of this year’s recipients. It was requested and discussed to bring some “finger food” and/or snacks to the next meeting.
Glen Lemon donated a large picture frame and several old photos to be displayed in the Little Church Museum; and Ila Foster donated two new cushioned floor mats to be used in the clubhouse kitchen area. The club thanks both Glen and Ila for their generous donations.
The Memorial Plaque was discussed. There are several members who have passed away who need to have their names added, including Donna Wiggins, Anne Rundhaug, Darrel Rickart, Jerry Shafer, and Karen Humphreys. Cindy will take care of getting the new engraved brass plates for the Memorial Plaque.
It has been noted that there are some people who have taken to driving across the park in their cars, and using the park as a short cut. A sign was installed asking folks to not drive on the grass. The sign is now gone. A more permanent solution is needed.
Someone drove through one of the t-posts marking the entrance to the parking area and destroyed it. There was discussion as to whether we should install a new t-post, or something larger and more easily seen. Bill will look into it.
Somebody left a pan and lid in the clubhouse, sometime between the October 8th meeting and the Nov 12th meeting. If you’re missing a pan and lid, please let us know!
The meeting concluded and was adjourned at 7:25pm. The next meeting of the Max Community Club will be December 10, 2012 at 6:30pm.
