Max Community Club Meeting Minutes April 8, 2013 The monthly meeting of the Max Community Club was held on April 8, 2013, and was called to order by club president Cindy Cawthra at 7:00pm. Attending were: Bill and Cindy Cawthra, Margaret Smith, Jim and Karen Bowman, Bob Tuttle, Daisy and Jim Jensen, Amanda Tuttle, Harold Perkins, Patricia Phalen, Shary Jones, and Shirley Griffin.
The minutes for the last meeting were not readily available and so were not read. Margaret Smith read the monthly treasurer’s report. Jim Bowman made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as read. The motion was seconded by Jim Jensen. A vote was taken and the motion carried. Old Business: Dr. Tom Noffsinger has generously agreed to come to the community club house and speak about his recent trip to Russia, as well as share some photos of his trip. A tentative date of June 1, 2013 at 7:00pm (MT) has been set for this. The public is welcome to attend, and refreshments will be provided. New Business: Neil Kirkman has donated a substantial number of items to the community club, including a crock pot, a large number of kitchen towels, and a large box of assorted kitchen implements. These will be used by the community club to help prepare and serve guests and members at the many events held by the community club. The Max Community Club would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Neil for his kind generosity. The Annual Alumni Brunch is scheduled to be held May 25, 2013, and as always, a good time, good food and great fellowship with many old friends is promised. The Clubhouse and the “Little Church” have been rented for May 4, 2013, and the Clubhouse has been rented for May 12, 2013. The Annual Max Community Clean Up Day is scheduled for April 27, 2013, and volunteers are needed to help. We will be picking up trash and refuse that has gathered in the ditches around town, as well as cutting up and removing dead branches and such, and helping out some of our elderly residents clean up their yards if they need it. Volunteers can meet up with us at the community clubhouse at 8:00am (MT), and are encouraged to bring with them any necessary tools they may have to help out with (rakes, shovels, etc), as well as suggestions as to what needs to be done around town. As always, lunch will be provided for all who help out with the town clean up. The Annual Max Community Wide Yard Sales Day is tentatively scheduled for June 8, 2013. Further discussion as to the specifics for this event will held at the next community club meeting on May 13, 2013 at 7:00pm (MT). Maintenance and improvements of the Max Pioneer Park were discussed. Patricia Phalen volunteered to sand and repaint the spring toys in the park. Jim Bowman volunteered to supply the paint. Also discussed was the possibility of planting some shrubs and such in some of the areas where previous greenery has died off. Further discussion on this will be held at the next community club meeting.
