Max Community Club Meeting Minutes
February 11, 2013
The meeting opened at 6:46pm. In attendance were: Cindy and Bill Cawthra, Jim and Karen Bowman, Daisy and Jim Jensen, Shary Jones, Ralph Boon, Eddie Burns, Shirley Griffith, Harold Perkins, and Bob Tuttle.
Cindy passed around a sign in sheet and deposit bag for those who would like to pay their yearly club dues and contribute to the streetlight fund. Club dues are now due.
There was no financial report available, as club treasurer Margaret Smith is with her family as they mourn the loss of a loved one. Our thoughts and prayers are with Margaret and her family during this time of loss. There were also no minutes available for the last club meeting. Due to inclement weather and club member illnesses, the past two club meetings had to be postponed.
New Business:
We received a suggestion in the suggestion box, to install a fence / gate in the northeast corner of the park. The reason given was that for so many years that area was used as a drive thru to the back lot near the highway. As it is no longer used for this, a fence/gate would discourage people from driving into the park itself, and thus protect the grass and landscaping. The suggestion will be reviewed for feasibility.
The election of club officers, which had been postponed from last December, was held. Both Bill and Cindy Cawthra were nominated for Club President. A vote was taken and Cindy was elected to serve another term as club president. Shirley Griffity, Jim Bowman and Bob Tuttle were all nominated for club vice-president. A vote was taken and Jim Bowmen was elected to serve as club vice-president. Margaret Smith and Phyllis Kirkman were nominated for club treasurer. A vote was taken and Margaret Smith was elected to serve as club treasurer. Bob Tuttle and Shary Jones were nominated for club secretary. A vote was taken and Bob Tuttle was elected to serve as club secretary.
Thank you cards were passed around for club member signatures and words of thanks. The cards will be sent to those who have contributed their time, efforts, expertise, and financial assistance over the past few months. A huge thank you to all of you!
The last fish fry of the season will be held March 2, 2013.
The next meeting of the Max Community Club will be held March 11, 2013 at 7pm. During the meeting we will be having a potluck supper for club members and their guests. All members are invited and encouraged to attend, and to bring a guest. The club will provide a ham, and members are asked to bring side dishes and desserts. We’re all looking forward to see some new faces here!
The meeting adjourned at 7:27pm
